At Cory Powell Photography, our goal is simple: to create beautiful images while giving you an experience that is safe, empowering, comfortable, and (most importantly) FUN!
We know that stepping in front of a camera can feel vulnerable. It is completely normal to arrive with some anxiety or uncertainty about being photographed. You may be nervous about how you will look, what to wear, how to pose, or whether you will feel comfortable in front of the camera.
That's okay!
Our job is to guide you through the experience, help you feel comfortable, and create images that make you excited to see yourself in a new way.
Whether you're here for headshots, personal branding, boudoir, glamour, portraits, couples photography, or another type of session, we want you to leave feeling like you were seen, celebrated, and had a damn good time doing it.
By booking a photography session or appointment with Cory Powell Photography, you acknowledge and agree to follow these Studio Policies.
Cory Powell Photography reserves the right, at our discretion, to make reasonable exceptions to individual policies when circumstances warrant.
Our studio policies exist to protect the experience of our clients, our creative team, and our business.
We reserve the right to refuse or terminate service to a client or guest who violates these policies. When service is terminated because of a violation of these policies, no refund will be provided, except where otherwise required by applicable law.
We ask two primary things from every client:
Our team puts significant time, energy, expertise, creativity, and care into your project.
Please treat our photographers, stylists, assistants, studio partners, and other professionals with the same respect that you expect to receive from us.
You do not need to arrive knowing how to pose.
You do not need to be comfortable in front of a camera.
You do not need to know exactly what you want.
That's what we're here for!
We simply ask that you come with an open mind and a willingness to trust our team, try things, communicate with us, and participate in the experience.
Our goal is to create beautiful images that capture who you are right now while making the process enjoyable along the way.
Our team invests significant time and care into planning your photography experience and creating your final artwork.
Your participation in the preparation process helps us deliver the experience you've hired us to provide.
By booking a session, you agree to reasonably participate in the preparation process and provide requested information in a timely manner.
Client responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Reading documents and guides we provide, including Photoshoot Preparation Guides, Wardrobe Recommendations, Pricing & Products Guides, and other session materials.
Completing any homework or preparation requested before your Planning Call.
Communicating your goals, preferences, concerns, and expectations.
Bringing or sourcing the outfits you intend to wear.
Preparing outfits for your session, including steaming or ironing clothing and removing tags or packaging.
Arriving on time and prepared for your appointment.
Following reasonable instructions from your photographer, stylist, or other members of the creative team.
Informing us in advance of circumstances that may affect your ability to participate in the session.
We understand that life happens and that not everything will go perfectly.
However, failure to participate in the preparation process may limit our ability to provide our normal client experience or achieve the intended results of your session.
We want communication with our clients to be easy and convenient.
We will communicate with you using your preferred communication method whenever reasonably possible. Many clients prefer text messaging, but you are also welcome to communicate with us by email.
Throughout your project, you may receive automated emails and text messages related to:
Appointments.
Appointment reminders.
Planning.
Session preparation.
Questionnaires.
Invoices and payments.
Ordering appointments.
Other necessary client communications.
By booking your project, you consent to receive automated service-related communications regarding your appointments and project.
Marketing communications, including promotional emails or text messages, are handled separately and are subject to applicable consent and opt-out requirements.
You are welcome to contact us with questions throughout your experience.
Questions about wardrobe, the aesthetic of your session, posing, session goals, products, artwork, scheduling, or other aspects of your experience are completely normal.
We maintain separate business phone numbers and business email accounts for client communication. You may contact us outside of normal business hours when convenient for you.
We will respond during our normal business hours, generally within one business day.
We understand that life gets busy. However, communication is an important part of successfully preparing for your session.
If we send multiple messages leading up to an appointment and do not receive a response, we may send one final message asking you to confirm that you still plan to attend.
If we do not receive a response after that final attempt, we may reasonably assume that you no longer intend to attend the appointment.
In that situation, the appointment may be removed from our calendar and treated as a client cancellation, subject to the Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy below.
Many of our photography experiences include complimentary professional hair and makeup styling for one person.
If you prefer to do your own hair and makeup, that's completely fine. Just let us know in advance.
If additional people will be photographed and would like professional hair and makeup services, please tell us at the time of booking so that we can properly schedule the appointment and provide an invoice for any additional services.
Our typical starting point for styling is:
Loose curls or soft waves for hair.
Soft glam or natural makeup.
However, our professional stylists can accommodate a wide variety of looks, provided the requested styling can reasonably be completed within the scheduled 90-minute styling appointment before your photoshoot.
We will provide professional guidance based on the type of session you've booked, your wardrobe, your desired aesthetic, and your goals.
But ultimately, it's your face and your hair.
If you want something changed before the session begins whether it's more or less makeup, additional lip gloss, a different hairstyle, darker or lighter makeup, or another reasonable adjustment… please speak up!
Our stylists want you to feel like yourself. No one will be offended by a request for an adjustment.
Cory Powell Photography works with professional, licensed hair and makeup artists who have been carefully selected for their skill, professionalism, and ability to create a positive client experience.
Our stylists are part of the creative team, and we expect the same respectful treatment toward them that we expect toward every member of our team.
We understand that having someone you trust with you can make a photography experience more comfortable.
In many cases, bringing a support person to your photoshoot can be a wonderful idea and is encouraged when appropriate.
However, all guests who are not clients must be approved by Cory Powell Photography before attending an appointment.
Please let us know in advance if you are considering bringing a guest.
Before inviting someone, we encourage you to ask yourself:
Will this person add to my experience or detract from it?
For photoshoots, a supportive guest can sometimes help you feel more comfortable.
For appointments such as planning calls, design consultations, and ordering appointments, guests are typically unnecessary and may create distractions or make decisions more difficult.
Think of it as the “too many cooks in the kitchen” rule.
Your guest must follow all applicable Studio Policies.
If a guest:
Disrupts the appointment.
Interferes with the creative process.
Makes inappropriate or disrespectful comments.
Attempts to direct the photographer or creative team.
Makes the client uncomfortable.
Interferes with another person's privacy or experience.
Engages in inappropriate, threatening, discriminatory, or harassing behavior.
we may ask the guest to leave.
If the guest refuses to leave, the appointment may be terminated.
Cory Powell Photography reserves the right to refuse service to clients or guests who violate these policies.
Hate speech, discrimination, bullying, intimidation, and harassment of any kind are not tolerated.
This applies to clients, guests, and anyone participating in or attending an appointment.
This includes, but is not limited to, harassment or discriminatory conduct based on race, color, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic under applicable law.
We believe everyone deserves to feel safe and respected in our studio.
If a client or guest engages in threatening, discriminatory, abusive, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate behavior, we reserve the right to immediately terminate the appointment and/or refuse future service.
No refund will be provided when service is terminated because of a violation of this policy, except where otherwise required by applicable law.
For everyone's safety, clients and guests must arrive sober and capable of safely participating in their appointment.
We reserve the right to refuse or terminate service if we reasonably believe a client or guest is under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or another substance in a manner that affects their ability to safely or appropriately participate.
No refund will be provided when service is refused or terminated because of a violation of this policy, except where otherwise required by applicable law.
Please do not arrive to your appointment intoxicated.
When you book a photography session, you are reserving a specific date and time that our team has committed to your project.
We invest significant resources before you ever walk through the studio door.
Your reservation may involve:
Reserving studio space.
Reserving the photographer's time.
Reserving hair and makeup artists.
Reserving assistants or other creative professionals.
Turning away other potential projects for your date.
Planning calls and consultations.
Emails, text messages, and client communication.
Research and creative planning.
Mood boards and session concepts.
Wardrobe planning.
Props, wardrobe, or other materials purchased specifically for your project.
Studio setup and teardown.
Travel time and fuel when applicable.
Administrative and production time.
Coordination of schedules.
Other resources required to produce your experience.
Because of these commitments, cancellations and rescheduling can have a significant impact on our business.
Once Cory Powell Photography reserves your appointment date, we are unable to move your appointment unless we are able to fully replace your reservation.
All session fees are considered earned and owed upon booking the appointment.
Except in circumstances specifically addressed below, cancellation or rescheduling of your appointment results in the loss of your session fee and requires payment of a new session fee to reserve a new appointment.
We understand that illness and circumstances outside your control may happen.
Cory Powell Photography may make reasonable exceptions to the cancellation and rescheduling policy in cases involving:
Significant illness.
Emergency circumstances.
Severe weather.
Unsafe travel conditions.
Other circumstances determined by Cory Powell Photography to warrant an exception.
Any exception is made at the discretion of Cory Powell Photography unless otherwise required by your signed agreement or applicable law.
Photography is a creative service.
While we make reasonable efforts to understand your goals and create images consistent with our current portfolio, you acknowledge that our work is based on artistic judgment and creative interpretation.
By booking Cory Powell Photography, you acknowledge that:
You have reviewed our portfolio and current body of work.
You have a reasonable expectation that your images will be created in a style generally consistent with our portfolio.
We will make reasonable efforts to understand and incorporate your reasonable preferences and suggestions.
Our photographer and creative team will use professional artistic judgment throughout the session.
The photographer retains final artistic judgment regarding lighting, composition, posing, editing, image selection, retouching, and overall aesthetic.
Not every image or creative decision will necessarily align with your personal preference.
A disagreement with our artistic judgment, creative style, or aesthetic decisions does not, by itself, constitute a failure to perform the contracted services.
We encourage you to communicate your goals and concerns throughout the process.
Our goal is collaboration, not simply pointing a camera at you and hoping for the best.
Unless otherwise stated in a signed written agreement, Cory Powell Photography retains all copyright and other intellectual property rights in photographs and other creative work produced as part of your photography experience.
Purchasing photographs, digital files, albums, wall art, or other products does not automatically transfer copyright ownership to the client.
Any license or permission granted to a client to display, print, share, or otherwise use photographs is governed by the applicable photography agreement and/or product license.
You may not reproduce, modify, sell, license, publish, or commercially exploit photographs created by Cory Powell Photography except as expressly permitted by your written agreement or with our prior written permission.
During the course of your project, you may provide materials to Cory Powell Photography, including photographs, inspiration images, logos, artwork, written materials, wardrobe concepts, or other content (“Client Materials”).
You represent that you have the right to provide any Client Materials you submit and that providing them to Cory Powell Photography does not violate another person's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
You grant Cory Powell Photography the permissions reasonably necessary to use Client Materials for purposes directly related to providing your photography services.
Any broader license or permission regarding the use of Client Materials for portfolio, marketing, advertising, social media, educational, or promotional purposes will be governed by the applicable client agreement or written release.
Your privacy matters to us.
Information collected through our website, forms, scheduling systems, CRM, email communications, SMS communications, payment systems, and other business systems is handled according to our Privacy Policy which can be found at https://corypowellphotography.com/privacy
By using our website or interacting with Cory Powell Photography, you acknowledge that your information may be collected and processed as described in our Privacy Policy.
The safety of our clients, guests, and creative team is a priority.
Please follow reasonable safety instructions provided by our team while in the studio or at a photography location.
You agree to disclose any relevant limitation, condition, injury, or circumstance that you reasonably believe may affect your ability to safely participate in a photography session.
We may modify a pose, activity, setup, or portion of a session when we believe doing so is reasonably necessary for safety.
We reserve the right to enforce these Studio Policies in a manner that protects our clients, team members, creative partners, and business.
Depending on the circumstances, violations may result in:
A request to modify behavior.
A guest being asked to leave.
An appointment being paused.
An appointment being terminated.
Refusal of service.
Cancellation of future appointments.
Other appropriate action.
Except where otherwise required by applicable law or a signed written agreement, no refund will be provided when an appointment is terminated because of a client's or guest's violation of these policies.
Cory Powell Photography reserves the right to make reasonable exceptions to these policies at its discretion.
An exception made for one client or circumstance does not create an obligation to make the same exception in another situation.
If any provision of these Studio Policies is determined by a court of competent jurisdiction to be illegal, invalid, or unenforceable, in whole or in part, that provision will be enforced to the fullest extent permitted by law and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
By booking a photography session or appointment with Cory Powell Photography, you acknowledge that you have had the opportunity to review these Studio Policies and agree to comply with them.
These Studio Policies are intended to work alongside your applicable photography agreement, invoice, model release, product agreement, and other written client documents.
If there is a conflict between these Studio Policies and a signed written photography agreement, the terms of the signed agreement will control to the extent of the conflict.
Our policies are designed to protect what matters most:
A safe space.
A respectful experience.
Beautiful photographs.
And a whole lot of fun.
We can't wait to create with you!
